project 1

READING THE CONTEXTS OF TRADITIONAL STREET

This project introduces ways of reading the important "lexicons" of traditional streets through the tangible qualities of architecture and space, and the intangible socio-cultural attributes. It lets us to understand the specific contexts that construct the distinctive place identity and socio-cultural meanings of the traditional streets. Observations are captured in sketch journal and a written summary.

We have to select one street either form Kuala Lumpur or Malacca and identify the boundaries that we wish to focus on. The street that I have chosen is Jalan Tun H.S. Lee in Kuala Lumpur. We have to conduct a virtual visit using Google Street or Google Earth to study its distinctive place contexts.
