Either rebuild or renovate the site, we are required to prepare a building design, which will be used by The Love for their new look. The current design of the site is a little garden which surrounded by pillars forming two round shape. Deciduous plants are planted at the corner of the site to provide shading. Few benches are provided for people to rest but the site is not covered.

introduction
The Love @ MaTIC is trying to focus on tourism. In order to promote tourism in Malaysia, instead of showing map of Malaysia, I try to show tourists some things that symbolize Malaysia but rarely known by people. Malaysia is a tropical country which has hot and humid weather, thus, instead of putting fountain in front of the building which will increase humidity that make people feeling stuffy, I tend to create functional sculpture.

main idea
For my design, I make a two sculpture and I get the idea from our national flower – Hibiscus and national bird – Rhinoceros Hornbill and put them on bushes. People could sit on the marble bench which is connecting those two sculptures. Vegetation besides the sculpture will provides shading. Glass roof will cover the sculpture and provide shelter to people who sit there. Three bases of glass roof represent three main ethnic in Malaysia who will cooperate to support our country.
glass roof
Glass roof will cover the sculptures and provide shelter to people when they are sitting there. Glass could filter out part of sun radiation to reduce heat transmitted into the space. Vegetation will also provide shading and carry out evapotranspiration to lower down temperature and thus achieve thermal comfort.
The skeleton of glass roof will made by black colour aluminum as it won’t get rusty easily. The sculptures is not fully covered by glass. There are openings at the side to promote air flow for ventilation. Thus, people will feel comfortable when they stay in the space.

hibiscus
Hibiscus (Bunga Raya) was chosen in 1958 as national flower of Malaysia to symbolize the nation’s principles of nationhood with its five petals and the colour red symbolizes he courage and unity of people.
The sculpture will be made of concrete. There will be 5 different designs on each petal. Simple icon and short description will be engraved on the petals by using relief sculptural technique. Base colour will be red as shown as below and those icon will be painted in black.

rhinoceros hornbill
National’s bird – Rhinoceros hornbill is largest hornbills among all recorded in Malaysia. The Rhinoceros hornbill is also the state bird of Sarawak. The natives of Borneo, Sarthe Dayaks believe that the Rhinoceros hornbill is the supreme worldly bird and serves as an intermediary between our world and the god of divine birds, the Singalang Burong.
Lines are used continuously to outline the 3D form of Rhinoceros hornbill. The hornbill sculpture will be placed on a branch. Black colour wires will be used as the material for the whole structure.

conclusion
The reason why I finalised this design is because of it could attract people eyesight and they will read the information written on it. It also provide a place for people to rest while waiting at the entrance. In order to attract local people and tourists to the place and let them know more about our country, it provides comfort place for people, not only for ornamental but functional.
